Excuses are not acceptable, says municipal manager

According to Mr Mbili, management had been advised to make the necessary arrangements before applications for annual leave are approved.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality manager Max Mbili has urged those who approach the municipality for assistance not to be fobbed off with excuses.

Mr Mbili said customers not being assisted because municipal employees were apparently on leave was not acceptable.

If such a response is received, Mr Mbili urges that the relevant department head be contacted.

According to Mr Mbili, management had been advised to make the necessary arrangements before applications for annual leave are approved.

“When confronted with issues, the public should first engage the customer care and complaints unit, then the relevant head of department, before contacting the office of the municipal manager or the mayor’s office,” he said.

“In the case of sick leave, HODs will ensure that an interim arrangement is made for the continuity of business.”
