Four suspects appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on public violence charges after a creche was burnt down in the Mvutshini area on Tuesday this week.

“We are tired of empty promises from government officials, and until these issues are resolved we will continue protesting,” said one community member.

However the burning down of the creche sparked outrage from some who were not part of the protest.

This, they said, was anarchy and they demanded that the perpetrators be brought to book.

This creche in Mvutshini was gutted by fire during a service delivery protest earlier this week.

“Clearly people don’t want service delivery, they are fighting for their own narrow political interests, using situations faced by communities,” said distressed resident, Nokubonga Ndovela.

“I just don’t understand how you can burn your children’s future.”
