Wordsmiths ace RA Engar spelling bee

Adjudicators were extremely impressed with the spelling dexterity of 16 entrants from grades 5 and 6.

RA Engar Primary held their 2019 Spelling Bee last Friday.

The competition programme was presented by pupils, with eloquent Jezelle Govender (gr 7B) taking on the role of programme director, Philile Shozi (gr 5B) opening the prayer, Refiliwe Ndlovu (gr 5C) extending a heartfelt welcome and Abigail Reddy giving thanks.

Adjudicators were extremely impressed with the spelling dexterity of 16 entrants from grades 5 and 6.

Kiara Soorijlall (gr 6B) took top honours, Khanya Njomi (gr 5C) placed second and Awethu Lukhozi (gr 6B) third.

These pupils will represent the school at the Department of Education’s Spelling Bee.

Principal Dr Mala Appalraju congratulated all pupils on their outstanding performance and encouraged prioritising reading as it is the key to academic success.
