A former Port Shepstone Secondary School pupil, Calyn has had a distinguished career at the centre, having been nominated as ‘Student of the Year’ in 2017. The family wishes to thank relatives, friends and members of the Methodist Church for their unwavering support.

Book a seat

Men with no plans for this coming Saturday, April 6, are urged to bring a friend or two along and join the social men’s breakfast at the Methodist Church at 7am. For only R20 per person, they can enjoy a delicious, wholesome meal and a time of friendship, caring and sharing. Contact Debbie at 039 6992948 or Louis at 039 6992610 before Thursday to secure a seat at the breakfast.

Take advantage

Don’t let this Friday (April 5) pass by without taking your beloved pet for its rabies injection at the town hall/library between 8.30am and 12.30pm. Representatives from the Department of Agriculture will be on hand to administer inoculations and, as the service is free of charge, residents are encouraged to take advantage of it.

Great turnout

Organiser of the Mtwalume flea and craft market, Sue Patterson, was absolutely delighted by the turnout at the market last Saturday. Tables hired out were at a premium and attendance was on of the best ever recorded, with the beautiful weather playing along too. Well done to Sue and her helpers and hopefully it won’t be long before the next market comes around.

Thoughts and prayers

Good wishes go to Arthur Daniels, who unfortunately had a leg amputated recently. Thoughts and prayers are with him and his wife Joey during this trying time.

Prize winners

Winners of the latest Lions’ lucky draw have been announced and this time we have two sisters from Mtwalume sharing in the spoils.

Congratulations to Kelsie van Wijk (Tiago’s); Hein Balzer (Fifi’s Fresh Fish); Lorraine Lawlor (Salon Marguerite); Helen Chapman (Jolly Roger Fun Pub); Jackie Chapman (Hibberdene Pharmacy), and Sue Nicol (Christmas cake).

Winners are reminded that vouchers should be redeemed during the month in which they were won.

Back to school

Pupils and staff are wished a good start to the second school term, which started yesterday. They are once again urged to ‘byt vas’ until June 14, when school holiday will be upon us once again. And don’t forget the Easter weekend, which is only a few weeks away.

Hip, hip, hooray

Birthday wishes for the week go to Ken Walker (3rd), Ruth Smith (4th), Cynthia Lawrence (5th), Desrae Colyn (6th), Lientjie Taljaard (7th), and André Potgieter (8th).

Don’t forget to keep Lizzie busy with all Hibberdene news and photos.
