Body found in river near Batstone’s Drift

An inquest docket has been opened for investigation.

The body of a man thought to be around 40 years of age was recovered from the water at Batstone’s Drift in Port Shepstone by the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit on Tuesday morning this week.

People passing the low level bridge noticed something in the water.

When they discovered it was a body, the police were called.

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said a post mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
