The Port Shepstone Lions, Lion Ladies and their guests celebrated the club’s 49th charter anniversary at Schooner’s Galley in Umtentweni last Saturday.

Master of ceremonies Lion Kevin Ross officiated with his usual humorous antics and quotes. The club president Dale McGarry thanked members and Lion Ladies for their ongoing efforts in keeping the club active and successful.
Vice district governor Jeff Smith spoke on behalf of Lions Clubs International and praised the Port Shepstone Lions and Lion Ladies for their ongoing commitment to serving the needy and admired the spirit of friendship that exists within the club.
Past council chairman Denis Meyer officially inducted the club’s newest member, Dirk van Tonder who was sponsored by Lion Clayton Curnow.
Port Shepstone Lions Club was the first Lions Club chartered on the KZN South Coast in 1970. Next year the club will celebrate its golden anniversary and huge plans are in the pipeline to commemorate this achievement.
