Cyclist injured in hit-and-run

Police are calling for witnesses.

A cyclist who was hospitalised after a hit-and-run on the R61 toll road near Uvongo last Saturday morning has described himself as ‘very lucky’.

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said Margate detectives are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after the cyclist (40) was knocked down by a blue Hyundai.

“Investigations are continuing and we appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Detective Warrant Officer Richard Dlezi at 039 3129800,” said Capt Mpinge.
