New ‘Deal Maker’ has landed at Halfway Hyundai

Sicelo Nyandeni has overcome great odds to make a success of life in the motoring industry.

Sicelo Nyandeni (32) is the new dealer principal at Halfway Hyundai Port Shepstone.

While he is still young in terms of holding such a position, he’s vastly experienced in the motoring industry, having been actively involved in it since he was 18 years old.

Sicelo grew up in Eshowe in the Zululand area.

He was orphaned as a teenager and has had to make a success of himself the hard way.

“I had three sisters to look after and so had to become my own mentor early in life,” he said.

Sicelo matriculated at a rural school in Eshowe, where his grades in maths and science were so good that he secured a scholarship through Wesbank to study at UKZN in Durban.

He completed a B Com in finance and marketing. While studying, he worked at Wesbank during the holidays in all the different departments.

“I got great exposure and as good as it was, I realised I did not want to work in a bank. Sales was in my blood,” he said.

In 2007 he secured a job with CMH where he worked for 10 years with the sales team.

He quickly moved up the ranks, gaining experience in all aspects of the business.

Sicelo joined the Halfway Toyota group where he was based in sales in Scottburgh.

When the position of dealer principal became available at Halfway Hyundai Port Shepstone, he was keen to pursue it, and officially took the reins a few months ago.

He’s already made an impact, with December bringing in record sales for the month.

Sicelo likes to think of himself as a ‘deal maker’, in fact, he thrives on that.

“I want our customers to feel like they’re part of our family and give them the best service possible. “Halfway Hyundai Port Shepstone is a one-stop shop, we can do anything and will deliver nationwide at no cost.”

He also likes to make use of modern technology wherever possible to make closing the deal easier and more convenient for customers.

This includes the use of online and even social media apps like WhatsApp.

“Our doors are open, come and talk to us. Let’s see how we can help each other.”

As if all this is not enough of a challenge, he will continue to further his studies this year with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), and thereafter to eventually obtain a doctorate.

Sicelo is fast gaining an understanding of what makes the South Coast tick and wants to be visible, as well as to make a meaningful contribution to the area.

As a young man, he aims to lead with respect. “I’m on the floor, I’m available and willing to listen.”
