Scottburgh Rotary Club shows its appreciation

The club also recognised the valuable contribution of Rotary alumni.

THE Scottburgh Rotary Club hosted an appreciation evening last Thursday at the Blue Marlin Hotel. The purpose of this event was to thank all loyal supporters for their ongoing generosity.

Cherilynn Poynter of the Scottburgh Rotary Club says “For some of them, their support spans many years and without it, we could not continue with our work within the community.”

The club also recognised the valuable contribution of Rotary Alumni and as a token of their appreciation club members and past president Sandra Potgieter received the Presidential Citation for the period of 2017/2018.

This award is made on an annual basis and is based on the club achieving the goals as set by the president of Rotary International.

Members also bade farewell to Andrew Curran who is heading over to Germany shortly as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange programme. He will be spending six weeks abroad and is looking forward to being introduced to new people and cultures.

Nkosikhona Raphael Duma, who was part of the exchange programme in 2014 when he stayed in Brazil for a year gave Andrew some pointers and advice and said he was grateful to Rotary for the life-changing opportunities they afforded.
