Two men have been sentenced to imprisonment for rape in two separate cases.
In March this year, a concerned mother noticed that her 11-year-old daughter was afraid of her stepfather and, when questioned, the child revealed that she had been raped by him on at least on three occasions.

The 35-year-old man, a general worker at a school in Braemer, near Port Edward, was arrested and appeared in the Port Shepstone Regional Magistrate’s Court.
He was convicted last Thursday and sentenced to life imprisonment.
In the second case, a 16-year-old girl was asleep at her home at Mlozane Ward in Ezinqoleni on August 6, 2017, when a 25-year-old man banged on the door.
When she opened the door, he drew a knife and dragged the teenager away from the house. It was heard in court that he had threatened stab her if anyone attempted to follow them.
On the way, he raped the teenager in the bushes several times. When she tried to run away, he stabbed her in the chest and twice in the back. Neighbours came to her rescue and contacted her family.
The Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit arrested the man, who is known to the teenager and locals in the Mlozane area.
Sthembiso Mduduzi Nkonyeni was convicted on July 4 in the Regional Court in Ezinqoleni and sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment for the rape and four years’ imprisonment on the charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
The investigating officer in both these cases was Sergeant Sbonelo Ntini.
