It was revealed in court that Jordaan had been in possession of 5 176 images depicting child abuse in a sexual light as well as 142 videos.

During the course of the investigation, it had been established that Jordaan had downloaded these images and videos from the internet and had also been sent various images and videos from like-minded individuals.

The case had been ongoing for two years and eleven months and, by the time he will be sentenced on September 28, it will have been three years since investigating officer Captain Banks and her team raided the home of Jordaan’s grandmother in Pennington.

At the time of his arrest, Jordaan was found in possession of thousands of child abuse images and videos. Among other items seized were a plastic child blow-up doll, five cellphones, two secure digital memory cards, 80 compact discs, two iPads, two desktop computers and two external hard drives. Various costumes, dresses and panties were also found.

In court, state prosecution moved that Jordaan’s bail of R1 000 be rescinded and that he remain in custody until sentencing. However, following a lengthy argument, Jordaan’s attorney managed to keep his bail in effect. The National Prosecuting Authority is demanding a sentence of 10 to 20 years’ imprisonment.
