The festival is a wonderful community initiative and deserves to be well supported.

Shutdown

Take note the Ugu District Municipality has a planned water shutdown this Friday (3rd) which will affect the supply in the Trafalgar, Grassmere, San Lameer, Marina Beach and Southbroom areas.

The duration is expected to be from 8am to 5pm – the municipality will be working on a pipeline tie-in. Residents are urged to store water.

Sad sight

There was much excitement when the Desroches Hotel opened in Marine Drive, Margate a few years back. Its Sky Bar soon became the in-place to see and to be seen.

On Monday this week the hotel’s front door was padlocked and there was a small sign that read `Closed’. Hopefully the closure is a temporary one.

Metal night

Catch Hate Speech, the South Coast’s own metal music export, at Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate this Wednesday (8th) from 8.30pm.

`Metal Night’ offers rock, metal and alternative music with a little mayhem thrown in. Take note the following day is a public holiday.

To market

There’s a flea market at Sebenza Village this Saturday (4th) from 8am to 1pm.

Lots of hand-made items, second-hand goods and fabulous fair food will be on offer. Phone Lorraine at 079 847 4139 for more info.

Save the date

The acclaimed hit show `Glitter Girls’ featuring the fabulous Lisa Bobbert, Marion Loudon and Liesl Coppin is the next theatre offering at the Azalea Hall – Margate Retirement Village.

The date to diarise is August 25.

If you can only get to see one show this year – this is the one to choose. Tickets go on sale from this Monday (6th) – be advised to book early.

Some light please

As Ray Nkonyeni Municipality is the best in KwaZulu-Natal can its electricity department take a drive through Margate’s CBD at night to see how few street lights are working.

It is dark and uninviting – not becoming of the South Coast’s top tourism town.
