A 28-year-old man has appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death with a sjambok.

He has been charged with murder.
Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said Mehlomnyama police were alerted that a man from Vusushaba area in Mehlomnyama had had an argument with his girlfriend the previous night and had beaten her severely.
When they arrived at the house, police found the woman (29) on the bed, dead.
“The woman has not yet been identified,” added Capt Mpinge.
