Guest speaker, Alex Etchells of Distillery 031 dry gin, had a car accident on his way to the meeting. He was not injured, but fortunately member June Myers, who is an agent for gin and wine on the South Coast, stepped in and gave a short explanation on the  Musgrave Pink Gin and Distillery 031 dry gin.

June explained that there are distillers which offer a wide range of gins that cater to different people, adding that blue gin had become  huge in cocktail-making.

“Musgrave Pink Gin is one of the few, if not the only, pink gins in the country. It is great with pink tonic water. Handcrafted gin, such as Distillery 031, is  one of the best in the business,” she said.

Lee Barker from Jaxx restaurant provided the ‘thinking women’s club’ with gin and tonic for tasting, and gave them a crash course in cocktails before the finger buffet lunch as served.

The next Tuesday Rostrum meeting will feature Dr Gcina Mhlophe who will talk about whether women are being honoured enough.
