Margate Moves: Tidal pool has been repaired

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has advised the ratepayers' association that a request for tenders to refurbish the ablutions at the main beach has gone out.

 

SOUTHBROOMERS will be pleased to note that the tidal pool specialist has done a good job of fixing the top of the walls and leaks in the side walls of the pool at the main beach.

However, the association is still waiting for feedback from the municipal manager, Max Mbili, to discuss a proposal for a loan to repair the roads in the village.

Conservancy holds AGM

Rocking in Ramsgate

With Wednesday (21st) being a public holiday (Human Rights Day), Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate is planning a great night of entertainment this Tuesday (20th).

Local heavy metal outfit Hate Speech will be joined by punk and other bands from Durban. So if you like your music loud, fast and raucous this is the place for you.

However, if you prefer music of the foot-tapping, hand-clapping variety then don’t miss the show featuring the fabulous eight-piece swing band The Jazz Minkeys.

On offer will be an evening of superb musical arrangements along with a great story. The theatre-style extravaganza will be staged at the Azalea Hall, Margate Retirement Village on Saturday, March 24 at 6pm.

Go green

To celebrate St Patrick’s Day, the Lobster Pot in Ramsgate is hosting a special Irish evening this Saturday (17th). There will also be live music by Reflex.

So get out those dancing shoes and enjoy having a jig or three with traditional Irish fare.

Bowled over

If you have always wanted to learn how to play bowls, read on. Ramsgate Lions Club is hosting a fun, family bowls day at the Margate Bowling Club next Sunday, March 25 from 9.30am.

After the bowling sessions there will be a braai – take your own meat – salads on sale at R20 per person and there will be a cash bar.

The small but hard-working Ramsgate pride will hold its annual fund-raising golf day at Margate Country Club on April 7. The format is a betterball – teams of two are also welcome.
