Couple attacked and robbed at estate

The couple was tied up and covered with a duvet.

A man’s ring was forcefully removed from his finger during a robbery at a couple’s upmarket home on an estate in Shelly Beach last Wednesday.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that, at about 9.45pm, a man and his wife had been carrying some furniture out of the rain and into the house through a back sliding door.

“While doing so they were surprised by two men who forced them at gunpoint to lie on the floor, tied them up and covered them with a duvet. One then ransacked the house while the other was guarding the door. One of the men also forcefully removed a ring from the man’s finger, causing injuries,” said Lt-Col Wiid.

The intruders fled taking jewellery, clothing, food, a laptop, handbag and a wallet. A house robbery case was opened at Port Shepstone police station. No arrests have been made.

In a separate incident, four men armed with knives entered a clothing store on Nelson Mandela Drive, Port Shepstone, last Wednesday.

They threatened staff while two blocked the entrance. They fled taking cash. A business robbery case has been opened at Port Shepstone SAPS.
