Tweni Talk: Lend a hand and make a clean sweep

Please can residents get involved as everyone benefits.

After the successful clean-up at Umtentweni beach last Christmas, Mike Davies and Julian Damon are organising a beach clean-up on Saturday, March 24, from 7 to 11am, to ensure that the beach area is in pristine condition for the Easter vacation.

Please can residents get involved as everyone benefits. Clear recycling bags, black refuse bags and gloves will be handed out.

Julian says a friendly volleyball match and some touch rugby will be played after the clean-up and there will also be a ‘bring and braai’.

Volunteer litter pickers are required, so if you can assist in any way, contact Mike Davies at 082 6376288 or 079 8895030 and Julian Damon at 079 8533640.

Huge success

Tweni Crime Watch held a successful security camera upgrade fund-raiser at Muddy Boots last Sunday. A lucky draw, raffle and bingo was added to make things interesting and 19 traders were present with lots of interesting things to sell.

If you missed this one, the next car boot sale will be on April 8th since the first Sunday of April is Easter Sunday. Anyone who wants to book a spot must send a WhatsApp to 082 3051799 with details of what will be sold.

There will be an Easter ‘camera upgrade fund-raiser treasure hunt at Umtentweni beach on April 1. Your scribe will provide more details closer to the time.

Cable theft

The stolen electrical cable at Port Shepstone Home Affairs last week caused problems in so many lives, not to mention the added frustration for staff and management.

For this to happen in broad daylight (approximately 2pm) and no one reported seeing anything, shows how much disrespect and inconsideration some people have for the property of others.

RIP Grace

Sad news is that Grace Hansen died at the age of 97 years on March 2nd. Granddaughter Carolyn Bragge says her gran was born in Port Shepstone Hospital and lived in the area her whole life.

Grace will be remembered for her strong love for her family, her kindness and selflessness. Sincere condolences to the family and friends. Remember all the good times, of which there must be many.

Happy birthday

Birthday girl Josie Stonebridge turned a young 94 recently and celebrated with daughter Sandy Morris and The Collectables at a lovely lunch at Schooners last Saturday.

Sandy Morris was absolutely delighted to celebrate with her mom Josie Stonebridge at her 94th birthday party held at Schooners last Saturday.

Stolen Yorkie

Dalene and Clive Smith had ‘Pixie’ their little teacup Yorkie stolen out of their yard in Camp Drive by some inconsiderate thief. She was wearing a pink ‘bling’ collar, so if anyone knows anything or has seen her, please let your scribe know.

Diarise the date

The Golden Singers are back in full rehearsal after their very successful ‘Christmas Concert’. The annual Easter concert will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Sea Park on Wednesday, March 28, at 9 for 9.30am. There is no cover charge, however, a small donation is requested as proceeds go towards nominated charities. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. As always, it’s a wonderful opportunity to listen to the golden voices of this choir and enjoy a selection of music and songs befitting the real meaning of Easter.

Be wary

Gates are being lifted and beggars are wandering the streets looking for opportunities. Make sure your property is safe and put things away rather than leaving them out as a temptation. Lock your garages and set alarms. Remember to report even the small incidents to the SAPS. All news to Leila at 082 3761853 or email 0823051799@vodamail.co.za.
