Hibiscus Kennel Club dogs – and handlers – enjoy show

The best behaved, cutest and not so cute dogs turned up to have fun.

The weather was ideal for the Hibiscus Kennel Club’s agility show last Sunday. The annual show, held at the Port Shepstone Borough Grounds, was a success and trainers and their four-legged friends enjoyed a great day out. Fifty of the best behaved, cutest and the not so cute dogs were at the show.

Gail Taylor and her border collie, Swift, went home with two first places. With her other border collie, Fizz, Gail achieved a second place. She also achieved a second place with Dice, a cross-breed.

Pat de Korte and Ava

Ninette Smith and her toy poodle, Swish, made it a hat-trick and took first place in all three classes. With border collie, Sparkle, she achieved a first and two second places and with her border collie, Shimmer, third place.

Gaby Frey and her toy poodle, Kylie, achieved three second places and with border collie, KisKis, Gaby scooped three first places. With her border collie, KT, she achieved first place.

Bernice Smit and her Sheltie, Ty, had a good day and went home with two first places. With Chloe, also a Sheltie, Bernice achieved a well-deserved third place in dog jumping, after making it through to the jump-off. Then, with Donna, a Labrador, Bernice achieved second place.

Tracy Norton and Georgie

Karen Salhus and her silver miniature poodle, Poo Bear, achieved first, second and third places in the three classes they competed in.

Rosemarie Ludwig and her border collie, Demi, took two first places and a second. With Naka, also a border collie, Rosemarie came second and third in two different classes.

Mikala de Heer and her Aussie, Callie, scooped two second places.

Maritha Delport and her border collie, WB, came third in one of their classes.

Heather Moorcroft and her spaniel, Nina, showed good improvement with a first and two second places. With her little cross-breed, Tessa, Heather was pleased to achieve third place.

Bernice Smit makes sure Donna is in fine form.

Ann Shaw and her speedy border collie, KK, achieved a well-deserved third place in one of their classes.

Bev Harqourbie and her schnauzer, Jetta, took first place.

Pat de Korte and her German shepherd, Ava, were delighted to achieve first place with a qualification.

Many thanks to Sharon Derman, Jenny Robertson and Linda Lyte for enabling the day to run smoothly and to the two new judges, Renate Hausmann and Bev Harqourbie, for the day spent standing in the sun.
