The woman was not harmed.
There are some  simple guidelines that can be followed to avoid becoming a target:
  • Always tell someone you trust, perhaps a neighbor, when you are leaving and returning to your residence.
  • Change your routine from time to time.
  • Keep doors and gates locked.
  • Lights should be switched on during the night so that your premises are well lit.
  • Remove overgrown bushes and shrubs as it makes it easy for criminals to hide.
  • Report suspicious vehicles, persons, activities and illegal liquor outlets to the police.
  • Do not enter your premises if you sense something suspicious.
  • It is not advisable to go out alone at night to check why the dogs are barking. Rather call the police or your security company.
  • Do proper background checks before employing anyone.
  • Do not keep large sums of money at home and fire-arms should be kept in safes.
  • Stay alert and report anything suspicious to your nearest police station, 10111 or 08610010111.
  • Join the neighborhood watch in your area.
