A Scottburgh man (33) was hijacked at the Scottburgh main beach slipway on Tuesday afternoon this week.
The man told police that he had been approached by three men who, after talking to him for some time, produced knives and threatened him.
“They pushed him to the ground and one of them tried to strangle him. They demanded the keys to his vehicle and drove off,” said Port Shepstone SAPS communications officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the area.
In a separate incident later that night, a 68-year-old man and a relative were travelling along the N2 southbound near Scottburgh when he noticed a vehicle following him.
“The vehicle was flashing its lights and the man stopped, thinking it was the police,” said Lt-Col Wiid.

Three suspects approached the vehicle and produced knives, threatening the occupants and pushing them into nearby bushes before fleeing in their vehicle.”
Motorists are urged to be cautious, and rather drive to their nearest police station if a vehicle attempts to pull them over – especially at night.
