Thieves arrested for attempting to steal roof sheets in Amandawe

When the man arrived home, he saw the suspects running away with the roofing on their heads.

SPHAMANDLA  Hlongwane (26) and Sbusiso Smangiliso Mdlolo (26) were arrested last Tuesday for attempting to steal iron roof sheets from someone’s house in Amandawe.

At about 7.30pm, the homeowner, who was not home at the time, was informed that there were two men on his premises, apparently stealing his roof.

“When he arrived home he found the suspects running away with the iron sheets on their heads and gave chase,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The two abandoned the iron sheets and fled.

Police managed to arrest the pair. The roofing was recovered and returned to their owner.

Hlongwane and Mdlolo made their first appearance in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court last Thursday and the case was postponed to October 4.
