Margate Moves: Solo, stripped acoustic show for Ramsgate

Doors open at midday and Rowan will on stage from 2pm.

POPULAR Durban-based singer and songwriter Rowan Stuart has embarked on a national two-month solo Innerworld Tour and one of his gigs will be at Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate.

Rowan, who has created an inimitable brand of `folk-meets-pop’ music will perform at the iconic venue this Sunday (20th). Doors open at midday and Rowan will on stage from 2pm.

The Innerworld Tour performances include brand new unreleased material, acoustic interpretations of songs from his albums and reimagined cover versions.

Rowan’s career came into full swing in 2014 with the release of his album `Hidden Doors’. He has toured the country and opened for some of South Africa’s biggest acts such as The Parlotones, Prime Circle and Matthew Mole. Released last year, his single `Silver Balloon’ was play-listed on several radio stations.

Just visiting

Former physiotherapist at Margate Retirement Centre, Helmi von Reumont has recently returned from Florida in the USA where she visited her eldest daughter Laura and got to meet her grandson, Noah (3) for the first time.

And to put the cherry on top for Helmi her second-born daughter, Eva Christiane came to visit her in Ramsgate last month.

Grey power

It’s time to put on those thinking caps and get quizzical with the Ramsgate Lions. Club members invite everyone to the monthly Village Braai and Quiz night.

It takes place at the Community Centre in Glenmarkie Road next Friday, August 25. Fires are lit at 6pm so take along some meat, salads are on offer at R30 per person and there is a cash bar.

After everyone has wined and dined its time to put your grey matter to the test for the quiz. Each team is made up of four players. Find some brainy mates and have an evening of fun and socialising. For more information phone Lion Janice Selkon at 083 7775131.

Wine date

More than 150 wines will be profiled at this year’s Spring Wine Festival. It takes place at Riverbend Conference Centre in Southbroom on September 22. Tickets at R125 per person are on sale from the Crocodile Farm’s shop.
