FOR almost a year, Margate’s Olympic pool has been closed.

The closure of the pool, which was a popular recreational spot for locals and visitors, has also put a financial strain on small, medium and micro-sized enterprises and informal traders who depend on the pool.

Simon April, spokesman for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, said that the fixing of the pool required a capital expenditure and therefore a provision had been made in the draft budget for 2017/2018, which meant the work to fix the pool could only start after June 2017.
