Hijacked at Park Rynie beach before being robbed and dumped in Illovo

The woman and her friend were forced into the back of the vehicle at gunpoint.

SCOTTBURGH SAPS Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have information with regards to Tuesday evening’s hijacking at the Park Rynie beach to come forward.

A 22-year-old Umzinto woman and a friend were in her car at the beachfront at around 8.50pm when they were hijacked by three men.

This was not the only recent case in which someone was hijacked at that beach.

The woman and her friend were forced into the back of the vehicle at gunpoint before being driven to an unfamiliar destination in Durban.

It was later established that they had in fact been taken to Illovo, where they were robbed of an Armani watch, ring, cellphones, a Prada purse, handbag, jerseys, sandals, a knapsack and money.

They  managed to receive assistance after a passer-by pulled over.

The vehicle, a charcoal colored VW Polo with registration NX 39657 has still not been recovered.

Police are also still searching for the three suspects.
