Murchison man arrested for posession of heroin and unlicensed firearm

A laptop suspected to have been stolen was also recovered.

THE Public Order Policing (POP) Unit in Port Shepstone last Sunday arrested a 29-year-old man from Murchison for being in possession of 108 capsules of heroin valued at R4 860.

When the team visited his house and conducted a search, they  found an unlicensed Norinco pistol, one magazine and five rounds of ammunition as well as a laptop which is suspected to be stolen.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said a sum of R5 960  in cash was also recovered.

The man is in custody and will appear in court soon.

“The project team has done excellent work and has been praised by police officers,colleagues and members of the community for clearing the streets of drug dealers and criminals,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
