The two major taxi ranks on the coast – Margate and Port Shepstone – have long been problem areas were drugs are sold on a daily basis.

Yesterday (Sunday) officers from Port Shepstone SAPS responded to a report of  a robbery at the Port Shepstone taxi rank.

When officers entered the rank at about 7.30pm they noticed suspicious men making a dash from the rank.

The officers gave  chase and arrested one of the men.

He was found to be in possession of 313 whoonga/heroin capsules, 20 Mandrax pills and R4 233.90 in cash.

The value of the drugs is estimated to be around R14 058.

The man is due to appear in court soon.
