Pregnant Southport woman dies in car crash

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A WOMAN who was nine months pregnant died and her fiance was seriously injured when their vehicle and a truck collided on the N2 southbound near the Shell Ultra City in the Umgababa area yesterday (Sunday).

Sonali Sewbran (22) and her fiancé Deveshen Naidoo were travelling from Durban to Southport. Miss Sewbran was was due to give birth to her first child on January 14.

She was the daughter of Shireen and Kiran Sewbran formerly from Southport, now living in Reservoir Hills.

The funeral takes placed in Durban tomorrow (Tuesday).

Umkomaas SAPS communications officer, Captain Ismail Shaik confirmed that the woman had died at the scene.

He added that the police are calling for any witnesses to come forward.
