Robbers on the loose

The owner of the tavern was occupied with stock-taking when an armed intruder approached him and pointed a firearm at his head.

POLICE are on the hunt for three robbers who, just before 9am on Monday morning, December 19, robbed a tavern in Park Rynie.

Scottburgh SAPS have registered a case of business robbery for investigation. It is alleged that the owner of the tavern – Beyond the Moon – was occupied with stock-taking when an armed intruder approached the manager and pointed a firearm at his head.

The intruder demanded the safe keys, which were handed to him by the manager, who was then forced to lie on the floor, said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The robber was then joined by two, accomplices carrying bags. The owner’s shoelaces were tied before the robbers proceeded to steal various brands of liquor.

An undisclosed amount of money was also stolen from the safe.

With investigations under way, the Scottburgh SAPS are appealing to the public that anyone with information which could assist with the investigation to urgently contact the Scottburgh Cluster Detective Task Team at 039-9781900, 039-9789917/18 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
