Pedestrians killed in hit-and-run

POLICE are investigating two counts of culpable homicide after two pedestrians were killed on the N2 in Marburg on Sunday night.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said two men had been knocked down by a car.

“The vehicle involved in the collision did not stop,” she said. Both men died at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the SAPS at 10111.

On Tuesday this week a truck transporting rice caught alight on the N2 near Murchison. According to reports the community looted some of the cargo before police arrived.  The driver was not injured.
