Scottburgh man’s hijack horror

He was forced into his vehicle at gunpoint.

A MAN was hijacked in  Marine Terrace Drive, Scottburgh last Friday evening.

Two armed men forced the 22-year-old Scottburgh South resident into his vehicle at gunpoint and drove to Umzinto, where they were joined by another two men, driving a white bakkie.

The hijack victim was taken to a nearby bank and made to withdraw cash at an ATM.

After drawing cash, the man was then dropped off a few kilometres before Sawoti.

“The victim was robbed of his car, cellphone, watch and his wallet containing money and bank cards,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

Earlier that night, an attempted hijacking had apparently taken place, also in Marine Terrace Drive.

Social media users claim that a woman was confronted but managed to flee the scene on foot to avoid being hijacked.

Off-record comments suggest that the hijackers pushed their luck and later managed to hijack the man.
