Making Margate great again clean-up – a fantastic success

The clean up of Margate beachfront this morning displayed incredible community spirit.

A SMALL army of local businesses and private individuals who care about the welfare of Margate, came out in full force to clean up Margate this morning.

Their one goal was to #makeMargategreatagain!

The helping hands wasted no time and were seen sweeping, cleaning, fixing and even picking up litter from the beachfront.

One of the many remarkable transformations was the stinky, dirty and blocked shower.

But thanks to the team from DSL Sanitation it didn’t take longbspik’n spanefore the shower was spic and span. They also managed to unblock the drain after finding half a brick jammed into it.

Stephen Herbst, owner of Comfort Cool Air Conditioning, is the man behind this morning’s fantastic initiative.

He thanked everyone for their incredible support, hardwork and for standing up against no service delivery. He even employed five extra women, who are currently jobless, for the day.

Mr Herbst said a lot more businesses would have supported the initiative had it not taken place on Black Friday.

He is not stopping here, but is planning to tackle Uvongo beach next Saturday, and continue to north. So please come support him and the teams.

It’s a big pat on the back for Stephen and all the companies involved in the clean-up… let’s keep it up, –  South Coast Herald manager  Bevis Fairbrother
