No Olympic pool for season

MARGATE’S Olympic pool will not be repaired before the December holiday season.
The Herald was tipped off just before going to print yesterday (Wednesday) that engineers had visited the pool earlier this week and had reported there was not enough time.
Ward Councillor Dave Watson later confirmed the information.
“This is unacceptable service delivery and seems to be caused by months of delay by the Department of Human Settlements in procuring an engineer for the assessment.”
He said the Margate community was horrified and saddened at this further ‘lack of efficient service delivery’.
“This is going to impact negatively on our image as a prime tourist town. It will also harm the small, medium and micro-sized enterprises and informal traders who depend on the pool.”
