Child (7) and teen raped

The child was returning home from a visit to her grandmother when she was attacked.

POLICE are searching for two men involved in two separate rape cases.

A seven-year-old girl was raped in Izingolweni and a 19-year-old girl was raped at the Masinenge informal settlement last Friday.

“The seven-year-old, from Mbeni Ward, was walking home after visiting her grandmother who lives nearby when she was attacked,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.

When the child’s mother, who is a domestic worker in Margate, arrived home she was told that her daughter had been raped.

The child was taken to the local clinic. The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is investigating.

In another incident, a 19-year-old girl was raped by her ex-boyfriend at the Masinenge informal settlement near Margate.

The teen was dragged into the man’s shack where he raped her and assaulted her before fleeing. No arrests have been made in either case.
