Two arrested in scrap metal bust

The thieves were in the process of selling the items to a local scrap dealer in Marburg.

POLICE  arrested two men in Marburg last Sunday.

A house in Deepvale Road, Marburg was burgled in the early hours of Saturday. Alloy rims, a gearbox and other items were stolen.

On Monday morning, employees from Lazer 911 security company visited a scrap metal dealer in Marburg where they found two men who allegedly in the process of selling the stolen items to the business.

The security officers detained the men until police arrived.

“The men were arrested and taken to Port Shepstone police station where they were detained,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The suspected stolen items were handed in as exhibits.

The two men are currently in custody, pending the further investigation.
