South Coast dogs do handlers proud

Barbara must be commended for doing a really good job training Quinn.

SOUTH Coast agility dogs and handlers were very glad to wake up to sunshine on the morning of the Natal German Shepherd Dog Club’s open show held at the Scottburgh Country Club because attending a dog show in the rain is no fun. Once again, the South Coast featured very well.

Barbara Egan achieved second place with her border collie Deryn and a first place with her other border collie Quinn, who is deaf. Barbara must be commended for doing a really good job training Quinn. Gail Taylor came second with Fizz and first with Spark (also border collies) in two different events. She further achieved a first place with Spice, who belongs to Kay Sargent.

Maritha Delport and her tri-colour border collie Gigi gained two first places. Kristen Livingstone scooped a second and third place with border collie Kai, and a third with Belgian shepherd Phoenix. Desiree Grutter and her poodles did well. She achieved a first with Baron and a third with Danté. Elsie Pretorius placed second with Shiro and third with Mico. Jean Whittaker and her speedy border collie Zela came home with a second and third place.

Rosemarie Ludwig has worked hard with her border collie Naka and they came first in one of their classes. Michelle Howard and her Chinese crested always do well and at this show, she came third with Po, first and second with Minna and second with Seb.

Tracy Norton is steadily improving and she and Badger the boxer achieved a second place. Sheldene Smit came first in her event with Chloe, a gorgeous Shetland sheepdog. Ann Shaw enjoyed a spectacular round and was placed second with her border collie Bondi and a third place with her beautiful German shepherd Rommie.

Billy Engelbrecht did very well to gain two first places with her Jack Russell, Gunner. Ninette Smith came home with two first places with toy poodle Swish, a first and third with her border collie Glitz and a first place with Sparkle, also a border collie.
