IT is believed that at about 12.30am today three intruders entered a home in the Mabaleni area, Msinsini.
“Eight people who were asleep in the home were attacked. Seven of them sustained head injuries which appear to have been inflicted by a sharp object,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
She added that a man (70) who was asleep in an adjacent rondavel, was burnt to death when the building was set alight.
The dead include four women aged 15, 30, 32 and 60 years, and three children – two boys (1) and another three-year-old boy.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that another person was critically injured while a mentally challenged child was left uninjured.
Investigations continue.
