WATCH: Dashcam captures alleged hit-and-run

The motorist is thought to have ploughed into the women before speeding off.

AN alleged drunk driver was captured on video leaving the road and driving straight into three pedestrians in Marine Drive, St Michael’s on October 10.

All three women were injured and were taken to hospital, said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka.

Rowan Adamson from NR Towing was behind the vehicle and allegedly caught the accident on his dashboard camera.

Just behind him was Lappies Labuschagne of Maser Security, who chased down the driver who had sped off.

Mr Labuschagne managed to get the driver to pull over near the petrol station in Uvongo. He was later arrested by police and detained.

Captain Mfeka said bystanders told police that man ‘smelled of liquor’. He was taken to Port Shepstone hospital for a blood sample to be taken.

The man was charged with reckless or negligent driving and drunk driving.
