The two drivers were trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene while three people miraculously escaped from the wreckage.

TWO people died and three others were injured, one seriously, when two vehicles collided head-on on the Rosemead main road in Umkomaas last Saturday at around 5.30pm.

Reports from the scene indicate that one vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic before hitting the other.

Netcare 911 paramedics, the fire department and provincial services found the roadway littered with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles.

The damage was consistent with that of a high impact collision.

The two drivers were still trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene while three people miraculously escaped from the wreckage.

Paramedics treated the injured before transporting them to hospital.
