Skeleton found on freeway

The remains have been taken to the Park Rynie state mortuary for DNA testing.

MAINTENANCE personnel were cutting grass along the freeway last Wednesday when they discovered a skeleton lying on the verge.

“The skeleton was found near the Ifafa bridge on the N2 and is that of a female,” said police spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

He added that the remains were dressed in a dark grey hooded jacket, grey skirt and light brown ankle boots.

“It was removed to the Park Rynie State mortuary where tissue samples were obtained for forensic DNA analysis with the view of identifying the deceased.”

The case is being investigated by Warrant Officer Vis Moodley of the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service.

W/A Moodley has appealed to anyone who knows of a woman who may have gone missing recently while wearing the clothing described,to contact him at 039 978 1900.
