Just in: Armed robbery in Shelly Beach

A gun was held to the security guard's head.

A SECURITY guard based at a Shelly Beach bottle store was robbed of cash at about 7.30pm tonight (Friday).

According to police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid the security guard was walking from the liquor store to drop off money.

“He was outside the store when two armed men confronted him and put a gun to his head. They then fled with the bag of money.”

She added that a third suspect was waiting in a white Mazda 323 with tinted windows and without number plates. The armed men got into the car which then sped off.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. Police are investigating.
