UPDATE: First child testifies in Middleton’s trial

The second child is expected to testify next month.

FURTHER evidence was heard in camera from one of the children linked to the Dave Middleton trial.

The former traffic chief’s trial proceeded in the Port Shepstone Regional Court on Tuesday and Friday last week.

Mr Middleton is facing a string of charges including two counts of rape, various counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual grooming of a child, display and exposure of child pornography and intimidation.

One of the children, a 11-year-old girl, testified in camera on both days.

The second child is expected to testify next month when the trial proceeds.

Mr Middleton has been in custody since 2013, and is represented by Advocate Jimmy Howse.

Advocate Howse suggested that the mother had photoshopped the photograph of the child allegedly holding Mr Middleton’s penis.

He further proposed that the mother and child had conspired to discredit him.

The child denied this.
