Update: Middleton’s trial begins

One of the children began to testify in camera.

FORMER traffic chief, Dave Middleton’s trial began in the Port Shepstone Regional Court on Tuesday this week.

Mr Middleton is facing a string of charges including two counts of rape, various counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual grooming of a child, display and exposure of child pornography and intimidation.

One of the children, a 11-year-old girl, began to testify in camera. The trial will continue on Friday.

Mr Middleton has been in custody since 2013, and is represented by Advocate Jimmy Howse.
