TREVOR Koekemoer was forced to watch helplessly as the garden storage flats at his home in Ilfracombe were gutted by fire on Monday night.
Trevor ran to fight the fire with a garden hose, but to his horror, found the tap was dry thanks to the water restrictions in force in the area.
The fire broke out at about 6pm and spread quickly. The Isipingo fire department dispatched three trucks, but the buildings could not be saved.
