Pensioner (71) robbed at Uvongo home

The robbers fled with bank cards, a television and other household items.

MARGATE police are searching for four men who attacked and robbed a Uvongo man at his Mitchell Road home last Friday.

“The victim, a 71-year-old man, said he was taken by surprise when he was confronted by four men who entered his house at about 6am,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.

“The pensioner claimed that he did hear his dogs barking but ignored it. Within minutes he was confronted by the intruders.

“The homeowner was then tied up with an electric cable and forced to lie on his lounge floor. The men then demanded his bank card which they took,” said Capt Mfeka.

The robbers also fled with a television and other household items.
