Woman, child (7) raped

Two more victims of sexual violence were added to the list last weekend.

A MOTHER  in Bhomela, Paddock was shocked to discover that her seven-year-old daughter had been raped.

According to police reports, the mother suspected something was wrong with her daughter.

“She contacted police and the child was taken to a local clinic where it was confirmed that she had been raped,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka.

A 53-year-old man was arrested. He appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week.

The case was postponed for further investigation. The man remains in custody.

In another case, a 64-year-old woman was raped at her home in Ndunu ward, Izingolweni last Saturday.

The woman said she was asleep in her bedroom when she heard a sound at about 8pm.

After a while she heard her bedroom door opening and was confronted by a man who threatened her with a knife.

“She was raped three times by the man,” said Capt Mfeka.

When the man left she contacted police.

The woman was taken to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in Port Shepstone.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man who appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week.

The case was postponed for further investigation.
