A MAN (23) was arrested last Friday in connection with the disappearance of Banana Beach resident, Ella Sophia ‘Elsie’ Potgieter (43) who vanished last Thursday while walking to Southport beach.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, it is believed that this man was the last person Ms Potgieter was seen with before her disappearance. She added that Southport police are investigating a case of kidnapping.
The man will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court today.
Lt-Col Wiid said that additional officers from Durban, Kokstad and Pietermaritzburg have joined local search and rescue personnel in the hunt for the missing woman.
Police urge people not to walk alone and to be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times.
