Update: Still no sign of Ella

Police are still hunting for the woman who went missing last Thursday.

BANANA Beach resident Ella Sophia Potgieter (43), known as Elsie, is still missing.

Her family has been frantically searching for her since last Thursday, when she left the house to take a walk down to Southport beach (as she always does) at about 10am and did not return.

Port Shepstone K9 Search and Rescue unit members searched the beach, dunes and bush for most of the weekend. They have resumed the search today.

On Sunday morning, community members united to search for her. However, despite the good turnout, the search proved fruitless.

Ella Sophia Potgieter is still missing.

Ms Potgieter’s partner, Johan van den Bergh, said that the statement released on social media yesterday (Sunday) that Ella had been found was not true.

“She has not been found. Ella’s daughter Bianca Potgieter is often confused with her as they look very similar. Nothing is missing from the house, except Elsie,” he said.

On the day of her disappearance, she was wearing a blue top and three-quarter denim shorts.

The community is urged to keep a lookout for Ella and to contact Southport SAPS at 039 6819900/6819907 with any information.
