Intruders tie up, threaten, rob woman

After ransacking the home, the men fled with a laptop, car keys, cellphones and a gate remote.

SWIFT work by police led to the arrest of a suspected house robber within four days of him committing the crime.

The 29-year-old man didn’t even have time to flog all the stolen goods before being caught, and he was linked to another house robbery in September.

The man, along with two other suspects who have not been apprehended, entered the Umdoni North home in Pennington shortly after midnight, on October 9.

The men then went into the owner’s room and, when she woke up, tied her hands with electrical wire while threatening her with a large knife. After ransacking the home, the men fled with a laptop, car keys, cellphones and a gate remote.

Detectives recovered three cellphones and a heavy duty power drill when they arrested the man near Selborne.

He was linked to the house robbery case through the cellphones.

Further investigations led to the man being linked to the other robbery in the same road in Pennington.
