Cyclist injured in collision with bakkie

The man was flung into the air and landed in the bakkie's load bin.

A CYCLIST was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle on the N2 near Merlewood at around 6.30am today.

Paramedics from several ambulance services, the Hibiscus Coast Fire Department and the police responded to the accident.

Spokesman for EMRS, Robert Mckenzie said when paramedics arrived they found the man (20) had been hit by a bakkie.

“The cyclist had been flung into the air and landed on the back of the bakkie, which was loaded loaded with poles, iron sheets and planks. Paramedics provided the necessary medical care and he was transported to hospital.”

Police are investigating.
