Woman defrauded after using ATM

Beware of strangers who offer to help.

AN Albersville woman (50) is a good deal poorer after using an ATM in Aiken Street, Port Shepstone recently.

Police spokesman Captain Vincent Pandarum said two well-dressed men approached her  while she was busy with a transaction.

“The men then began tampering with the ATM keypad. They pretended to be assisting her, saying  she would not incur any bank charges. However her card then disappeared,” said Capt Pandarum.

The next day, when the woman reported the matter to the bank concerned, she was informed that an amount of R4 000 had been withdrawn from her account.
